Adjectives
ending -ed/-ing
Form:
Frustrated – frustrating.
Uninterested – uninteresting. Confused
– confusing.
Annoyed – annoying. Depressed
– depressing.
Surprised – surprising. Exhausted – exhausting.
Function:
- Past participles used as adjectives describe an effect on a person or thing.
- Present participles used as adjectives describe the person or thing that causes an effect.
Ed = Past participles.
Ing = Present participles.
Practice
Choose the correct adjective form to complete the
sentences.
- I like interesting/interested, unusual furniture.
- Our business goal is to have 100% satisfying/satisfied customers.
- Sofia is very exciting/excited about her new tablet.
- I want to relax before we go out because I had a really tiring/tired day.
